Work experience

Zipline Delivery & Logistics

South San Francisco

Ground Systems Engineer Intern

May – December 2024

Working in San Francisco was an amazing experience, especially at a company with such a strong mission to increase accessibility. Learning from all the incredibly talented engineers, from flight test operators to ground systems technicians, was an incredible highlight. My first day was the building of the first single dock structure, and throughout my internship I got to participate in the iteration and building of the second design. Not only that, but I had the chance to help build these structures for the launch of pilot in Arkansas!

Tasks

  • Utilized Siemens NX, analytical calculations, and rapid prototyping to design a docking structure for the drone
  • Implemented quick design challenges, such as building a winch raising system in less than one week for safer operations
  • Strategizing and testing manufacturing processes for large docking towers, and developing integration procedures
  • Supporting ongoing ground systems testing, including drop testing, cycle winch testing, and force characterization

National Research Council Flight research Laboratory

Ottawa, Ontario

Flight Test Engineer Intern

September-December 2023

Following the microgravity campaign with the National Research Council that Mission SpaceWalker participated in, I knew that flight test research was a passion of mine. The engineers and pilots who made the campaign happen were full of enthusiasm, and the whole week I became more eager to intern with them. I had the opportunity to work with passionate researchers doing amazing aerospace experiments, and I am fortunate to have this experience to further hone my flight test and R&D skills.

Tasks

  • Supported the Canadian Vertical Lift Autonomy Demonstration (CVLAD) test flights by collecting data and automating analysis using MATLAB, which was summarized in a formal report
  • Designed a simulated test environment for pilots by modifying the AF-MATB, developing an experimental controller in Python and Tkinter, and integrating hardware to the flight simulator
  •  Reformatted the layout of the Primary Flight Display (PFD) using tools in Inkscape for testing in simulation
  • Developed and setup the HeliCraft and in-house helicopter flight simulator using X-Plane and Unreal Engine
  • Defined data analysis tools, algorithms, and procedures for a pilot intervention study on human factors

Canadian Space Agency

St. Hubert Quebec

Space Engineer Intern

September 2022-April 2023

Working at the Canadian Space Agency has always been a goal of mine, and this internship provides the opportunity to apply my passion and skills to space technology and learn from the amazing people leading Canadian Space development. My technical experience on the Canadian CubeSat Project (CCP) and Parabolic flight competition (CAN-SBX), and management position for the Stratospheric Balloon Competition (CAN-SBX) were a benefit in succeeding in this position.

Tasks

  •  Redesigning the flight gondola to allow the avionics to be easily accessible in NX
  • Conducting stress analysis using hand calculations and FEA simulations
  • Optimizing mass relief on an original payload interface plate
  • Introducing a power supply system on the small pressure balloons
  • Bridging the gap between the CSA and student competition groups to improve communication and inspire the next generation of space professionals

Sensors Engineer Intern

May-September 2022

As part of the Zenith Fellowship, I was thankful to be selected by Sinclair Interplanetary as a host company. Through this internship I applied my engineering skills to the space industry and did many R&D based tasks. I was able to further develop my electrical and software skills to complement my design experience.

Tasks

  • Utilized quaternion math to create micro vibrational motion in the star tracker optical system using python/C#
  • Developed a new performance test on Star Trackers and conducted tests and analyzed collected data in excel
  • Selected parts for a thermal control heating system and participating in its manufacturing/testing
  • Redesigned an optical calibration testing set-up for star trackers using a theodolite

FOrward robotics

Cambridge Ontario

Mechanical Drone Intern
May 2021-Present

Forward Robotics is an innovative company producing drones for spraying applications. Their patented technology allows for greater control of the vehicle and much larger loads capable of carrying 45L of liquid travelling up to 100km per hour.

Tasks

  •  Designed various parts of the drone including the fuselage and wing components using Catia and Fusion360
  • Conducted FEA and physical tests including analyzing and improving the drone tail supports
  • Manufactured aluminium and composite parts using handheld tools, 3D printing, and CNC machining
  • Managed the production of the folding wing mechanism and insured project deadlines were met
  • Debugged code and wrote scripts in simulink, C code, and python languages
  • Harnessing wires and organizing electronics within the drone
